xEAD Editing Tool
xEAD is an EAD encoding program. It is written in Java and therefore the user must have jre 1.4.0 or later. This program was designed for the Windows platform.

Warning about Overwriting Files
xEAD only saves the information that you can see in the textfields, textareas, dropdowns and other user input areas. If you open an existing EAD file with xEAD, be aware that xEAD might not import all the data. Any data not imported will be lost if you save over the existing EAD file.
Using the Preview Function
To use the "Preview" function in xEAD, you will need to do two things:
- Leave the XSL and CSS files in the same directory as the xEAD.jar file.
- In xEAD, set the program to find the XSL file:
- Under the "Tools" menu, select "Options..."
- In the first field, "XSL File for Preview," enter "ss-committee.xsl" and click "OK".
